Top 5 On Friday

Over at The Music Memoirs they ask for the top 5 music videos from the 80s, so here goes:

1. "Let's Hang On" - Barry Manilow

Cool Four Seasons song given the Manilow magic. In this video he plays multiple parts, and without his trailblazing ways Outkast's "Hey Ya" video may never have happened.

2. "The Safety Dance" - Men Without Hats

Another video which I've probably only seen once, but all of my other possibilities (Thriller, lots of Madness videos, Ashes to Ashes, You Can Call Me Al) seemed a bit obvious.

3. "Once In A Lifetime" - Talking Heads

Talking Heads did loads of cool videos during the 80s, but this was the first of theirs I saw and the one I always think of.

4. "Money For Nothing" - Dire Straits

Hard to believe now how cutting edge the computer graphics seemed to me at the time.

5. "Take On Me" - A-ha

Cool blend of animation and real life.

I was almost killed by a fire truck once...I had Money for Nothing BLASTING in my car and didn't hear the siren LOL!

Woot for Take On Me!

Loved that Talking Heads one, too, and Dire Straits. I remember seeing that one for the first time when my husband and I were shopping for a new tv and the entire wall of tvs had that video from MTV!!

Wow, "Take On Me", one of my favorite 80s videos! And I do remember thinking how incredible the computer graphics were in "Money For Nothing"; now it looks like an incredibly inept PlayStation cut scene.

Hahahaha! Safety Dance :0)

Shared a few - shockingly not Barry Manilow.

hippie-chick - Thanks. Your choices were great as well. Still kicking myself that I missed out Tom Petty's Don't Come Around Here No More.

Janet - Hope my choice didn't bring back too many traumatic memories.

Natsthename - Thanks for the comments, and nice to hear that Money for Nothing isn't just a soundtrack for oncoming fire trucks.

Dennis - Thanks for the comments. If this meme has taught me one thing, it's that everyone seems to love that A-ha vid.

The Bumbles - Not Barry Manilow?? I'm stunned :P

Michael - Glad to remind you, and thanks for commenting.
