Sunday Stealing: A Movie Meme

You can play here.

1. What is your all-time favorite "costume" movie or period piece?

Does Titanic count? Otherwise, I tend to have zero interest in such movies, with the possible exception of A Cock and Bull Story (which I've got on DVD, but haven't got around to watching yet).

2. What classic film would you nominate for a remake?

I'd be more likely to nominate a non-classic one, then they'd have a chance on improving on it.

3. Name your favorite femme fatale.

Bridget Gregory from The Last Seduction.

4. Name the best movie with the word "heaven" in its title.

Heavenly Creatures.

5. Describe the worst performance by a child actor that you’ve ever seen.

While picking on a poor child actor, no doubt forced into the spotlight against their wishes by an annoying parent, seems a mean, petty and vindictive thing to do, and therefore right up my street, I sadly cannot think of any from the world of film.

6. Who gets your vote for most tragic movie monster?

Frankenstein (mainly because stupid people keep mistakenly calling him by his creator's name).

7. What is the one Western that you would recommend to anybody?

Cat Ballou.

8. Who is your ideal movie-viewing partner?

A quiet one.

9. Has a film ever made you want to change your life? If so, what was the film?

Superman 3 made me want to  have never seen Superman 3, if that counts.

10. Think of one performer that you truly love. Now think of one scene/movie/performance of theirs that is too uncomfortable for you to watch.

I can't think of any (clearly I choose better actors to love than the question setter, or maybe I'm just better at overlooking their faults).

11. On the flip side, think of one really good scene/performance/movie from a performer that you truly loathe.

I can't say I truly loathe any performer (with the obvious exception of Chris Tucker, who I've only ever seen in The Fifth Element) though there are a few performers I'd not cared the least for until I'd suddenly come across them in some movie or  other (such as John Travolta when he appeared in Pulp Fiction or Charlie Chaplin in Monsieur Verdoux).

12. What movie has the best soundtrack?

That's easy - After Hours. No wait, it could be Magnolia... or maybe The Blues Brothers. But what about Beauty and the Beast? I give up, what's the answer?

13. Favorite actor with a mustache? (i.e: Charlie Chaplin, William Powell)

Dabney Coleman (although I can't think of a lot of actors with permanent mustaches to choose from).

14. Shadowy film noir from the 1940's or splashy colorful musicals from the 1950's?

Splashy colorful musicals.

15. Favorite classic Disney?

Dumbo.

Your answers tickled me! I loved reading them and look forward to future weeks.

Although, I must disagree with all child actors being forced into the spotlight by annoying parents. My oldest daughter, now 12, has been acting since 5 despite my attempts to keep her from doing it. She's been in a couple movies, several commercials, several ads and more. She LOVES it! A born actor. :D

Apologies, smellyann, I was trying to give the poor child actor an excuse for their bad performance, but I'm sure lots of child actors have supportive parents too (though I expect they give a lot better performances).

Have a happy Mother's Day!

So glad to see you back with us!

Spiderman has been all of the place lately and is driving me a bit crazy.
