Sunday Stealing: The 40s Meme

You can play here.

1. My uncle once :

Built a computer at school back in the days before home computers. He's quite clever.

It was a very good year.

Haha, great answers! My initial instincts were actually to go with the Del Boy reference for #20, and the Homer Simpson version of your #3 (I drank a very good beer). And 30 Rock is the closest thing to comic genius since...well, Arrested Development.

Clever, clever!!!

"When I was seventeen, it was a very good year!"
Now I'm singing that in my head.

Happy Stealing!

You never fail to make me thing you're a legend. #2, I hope you don't have my disease. #5, Jebus, me either. Also, #19, made milk come out of my nose. Well done.

Make me thing? Twat. Think.

I'm thinking your 'other name' is Pinocchio then? With your answer to #17.

My stolen meme is posted. Do stop by if you get a chance. I'd love to have you for company today. Happy Sunday.

Loved the answers! I think we'd all have a hard time blending into school now. What happened to these kids?

OMG did I just say that??

Good one- The formula for solving quadratic equations.
Like we use them every day anyway...

Good answers! Yeah, there were a LOT of questions this week.

I don't know which was funnier: 30 Rock or Stu Sutcliff. Very funny!!! Enjoy the day...

Wooly Bully....Now I'll be humming that song all day...

Enjoyed your answers.

Of course, I have no idea what you're talking about in a lot of cases, but I stll think you're very clever.
Chased by a bear, huh? At least you'd die with a good conscience, doing the right thing.
The better name for you doesn't happen to be Vizzini, does it?

Loved the 30 Rock reference...great show. Have a good week :)

Thanks for the comments:

Spyke - I'm surprised that I didn't even think of going for the Homer Simpson version, since I've got it on my iPod, but then again the version of "It Was A Very Good Year" I've got is by William Shatner, so I suspect that would have won out anyway.

Stacie - Hope you've stopped singing it by now. Happy Stealing to you too.

Tilli - Not sure if I'm a legend (to misquote Indiana Jones, I've got the years, but not the mileage) but really glad I made milk come out of your nose. I used to make my sister laugh when she was drinking milk, and achieve the same result, so glad to see I've not lost my touch.

Hootin' Anni - Yeah, that's my other name (oops, there goes my nose). Happy Belated Sunday to you too.

StraitJacketMom (Berleen) - Yes, you just said it.

I am Harriet - The formula for solving quadratic equations came to mind, because back in my university days a friend of mine was sitting at a train station, looking at some Maths equations, and a stranger came up to him, recited the quadratic equation formula, and ranted about how that was the only thing he could remember from Maths.

Improbable Joe - Indeed there were. I thought they'd take me through to next Sunday at one point. Good answers! Yeah, there were a LOT of questions this week.

Bud Weiser, WTIT - 30 Rock was a lot funnier than Stu Sutcliff. Hope that puts an end to your uncertainty.

CRIMSON - Blame The Bumbles Blog, which mentioned that song last Friday and started me humming it all weekend.

Rikki - I have no idea what I'm talking about in a lot of cases either, so you're not alone. Vizzini - you mean the guy out of The Princess Bride? I'll have to watch that film again sometime just so I can work out what your comment means

NurseExec - You have a good week too.

kalea_kane - You want me to hook you up with the quadratic equations?! Why? Sure, I realise they've got the x-factor, but all they'll want you for is your curves. Happy Belated Sunday.

That.Girl - Yeah, that avatar's great (and uncannily looks just like me); he's an old DC comic book character from the '80s called Mazing Man. Happy Belated Sunday.

Teresa @ Grammy Girlfriend - Thanks for hopping onto my blog.

Thom - You and Stacie both; maybe you can start a duo.

shopannies - Yeah. my uncle's very smart, and as for that nose growing thing, I was lying, so there goes your super person theory. Happy Belated Sunday anyway.

A Blog In The Rough - Yeah, everyone seems to be doing it now, which kind of condones stealing, and the next thing you know theft will be compulsory and civilisation will collapse. Better leap on the stealing bandwagon now while there's still time.

Hm, I wasn't gonna say anything but I can't resist...It's inconceivable that you didn't get the Vizzini comment, but then it was sort of lame. Have a nice evening!

An Eerie Tapestry said...

Thanks, Rikki, but I'm still none the wiser. I definitely need to watch The Princess Bride again (I've only seen it once and that was ages ago and I clearly wasn't paying any attention whatsoever). You have a nice evening too.

Diane said...

love #28. that would be verrrry nice!

Rikki said...

Right, no big deal. I'm obviously too subtle for you (or too crackbrained, not sure yet). Let me know if you ever get round to watching it again. I haven't seen it in a long while either, but Vizzini got stuck with me, I thought he was brilliant.
